Donation Leads to Appreciation

LENEXA, KS - As part of our 10th anniversary celebration, Progressive Medical Equipment donated manual wheelchairs to Cancer Action, a not-for-profit agency offering comprehensive services and programs to our community members and their families who are coping with cancer.

"While delivering the chairs, we had the opportunity to discuss with Karla Nichols, Executive Director of Cancer Action, the many services provided by their independent organization," stated Gerald Sloan, owner of Progressive Medical Equipment. "Karla took us on a tour of their facility where we really got to see the depth of the services they provide," said Sloan.

Cancer Action has programs and services addressing the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of our community members dealing with cancer --from nutritional supplements, medical supplies, wigs and prostheses, to educational resources, art classes, support groups, massage therapy and exercise programs. Cancer Action supports a person and his/her family throughout the journey of dealing with cancer. Plus, all these services are provided by caring professionals at no charge.

"The staff at Cancer Action was very appreciative of our wheelchair donations, but it was us who walked away with a great appreciation for this organization and the amount of care, love and support they offer to our community," noted Sloan.

Kansas City is very fortunate to have the services of Cancer Action. Cancer Action is not associated with any national or governmental agency. It operates independently based on donations, memorials and financial support from the community.
